Buyer questions
What importers ask first
Is this a handmade tile or a handmade-look tile?
Handmade-look. The tiles are pressed and glazed to read like hand-formed tile, on a porcelain, ceramic or terracotta body. A genuinely hand-formed tile is porous and slower to produce; the look is the same, the performance is not. Read how the range is made.
Can porcelain subway tile be used in a shower?
The tile can, the substrate still has to be waterproofed. Porcelain has low water absorption, but grout and joints are not a waterproof layer — tanking is a separate decision.
What joint width should a 75 × 300 mm subway tile have?
2 mm reads modern and 3–5 mm reads period. The joint width sets grout volume and the visual scale of the wall, so fix it before ordering grout.
Do reactive and metallic glazes match from box to box?
They vary by design. Approve the range rather than a single tile, and keep a spare box from the same batch for repairs.
